The reunited British Columbia duo of John Morris and Jim Cotter had a good week in their return to the ice as teammates, but ultimately fell to Sweden's Niklas Edin 6-3 in the final on Sunday.

Edin, a two-time world champion, as well as third Oskar Eriksson, second Rasmus Wrana and lead Christoffer Sundgren beat Winnipeg's Reid Carruthers in the quarter-finals, Scotland's Kyle Smith (who won the Oakville OCT Fall Classic last week) in the semi-finals and Morris in the championship game.

Morris is teaming up with Cotter this year once again after spending the past two seasons with Pat Simmons in Calgary. Morris and Cotter made it to the Brier and Canadian Olympic Trials final in 2013-14, their only season together. In Oakville, Morris, who is the skip but throws vice stones, beat the likes of Mark Kean, Matt Dunstone and Steve Laycock in the round robin. He topped Mark Nichols, who took over skip duties for the injured Brad Gushue, in the quarters and Brendan Bottcher in the semis.

Other notable names in the 20-rink field included John Epping (failed to make playoffs), Glenn Howard (lost in quarters), David Murdoch (failed to make playoffs), John Shuster (failed to make playoffs) and Laycock (failed to make playoffs).

Gushue was the defending champion at this event.
