The Hamilton Bulldogs have added another weapon to their already high-powered offense.

They’ve acquired Montreal Canadiens draft pick Will Bitten in exchange for goaltender Connor Hicks, defenceman Fedor Gordeev and a pair of second round draft picks.

The Bulldogs also acquired Flint’s 12th round pick in the 2017 draft.

Bitten, a native of Ottawa, scored 30 goals to go along with 35 assists in 67 games with the Firebirds last season. He’s also represented Canada three times at the international level playing in the World Under 17’s in 2014, Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in 2015, and the IIHF World Under 18 Championship earlier this year.

Bitten was selected by the Canadiens in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, 70th overall.

Connor Hicks has yet to play for the Bulldogs this season, he attended camp with the Detroit Red Wings on a free agent try out, while Gordeev had one goal in two games with Hamilton this season.

Bulldogs president and GM Steve Staios called Bitten an “integral piece of the Bulldogs moving forward”, adding he will provide the team with “speed, skill and work ethic.”

Bitten will not be in the line-up tonight when the Bulldogs travel to Owen Sound to face the Attack, but is expected to join the team in time for Friday’s game against the Guelph Storm.
