The Saint John Sea Dogs have traded centre Joe Veleno to the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

In exchange, the Sea Dogs receive a 2018 first-round pick (previously acquired from the Gatineau Olympiques), a 2019 first-round pick (previously acquired from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada), a 2020 first-round pick, a 2018 second-round pick (previously acquired from the Quebec Remparts) and a 2020 second-round pick in the QMJHL Draft.

Veleno, 17, has six goals and 31 points in 31 games with Saint John this season.

A highly regarded prospect for next June's NHL Draft, he's ranked 25th overall in the latest player ranking by TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button and fifth overall in Bob McKenzie's pre-season draft ranking.

The Sea Dogs selected Veleno first overall in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft after he was granted exceptional status from Hockey Canada.
