Week 1 Picks

Schultz Picks: Montreal

World Picks: 85.5% - Montreal
MTL 38 WPG 33.
Montreal Wins.

The opening of a brand new stadium is an advantage for the Bombers, but how much? Winnipeg did not look good during the exhibition season, but was that by design or an issue still to be resolved? Montreal was a play away from going to the Grey Cup last year and they have similar talent this year. I think Montreal will spoil Winnipeg's opener in the new stadium.

Schultz Picks: Toronto

World Picks: 64.7% - Toronto
HAM 34 TOR 39.
Toronto Wins.

Kent Austin is in year one with the Ticats, while Scott Milanovich is in year two with the Argonauts. Having that Grey Cup banner raised at Rogers Centre before the game will be a nice emotional lift for Toronto. I think the Ticats' time is coming, but the time is right now for Toronto. I like the Argos to win their home opener.

Schultz Picks: B.C.

World Picks: 66.6% - B.C.
BC 32 CGY 44.
Calgary Wins.

The Lions are a very good team. They were number one in 10 of the CFL's 16 most significant statistical categories last season. While there are still a lot of unknowns with Drew Tate at quarterback for the Stampeders, that's not the case with Travis Lulay of the Lions. We know what he can do and he does it well consistently. Week One is always an advantage for the home team, but I think BC gets in done in Calgary come Friday night.

Schultz Picks: Saskatchewan

World Picks: 65.8% - Saskatchewan
SSK 39 EDM 18.
Saskatchewan Wins.

This is a tough one to pick with Edmonton beginning a new season at Commonwealth Stadium. But if there is a year for the Riders to make an extremely passionate team effort, this is it. The 2013 Grey Cup will be right in the heart of Regina come November, so for the Riders this is a special year and they will want to start it off with a bang. BC did it in 2011, Toronto did it in 2012, so why not the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2013? Every adventure begins with that first step. I'm taking the Riders on the road.

Through 4 games, Schultz is 3-1. The World is 3-1.
