Week 15 Picks

Cincinnati (-3.0)
@
Philadelphia
Schultz Picks: Cincinnati

World Picks: 78.5% - Cincinnati
CIN 34 PHI 13 Cincinnati Wins
Your Pick:

The Bengals are in a big-time battle with Pittsburgh for second in the AFC North. If they can beat the Eagles on Thursday night all the pressure will shift to the Steelers and their Sunday afternoon game in Dallas. The good story in Philadelphia is QB Nick Foles. He has thrown for 955 yards in four starts and looks like he may be the future for the Eagles, especially when you consider the salary cap. But the Bengals previous to the Dallas loss had won four straight games, while the Eagles previous to their win in Tampa Bay on the last play of the game had lost eight in a row. The Bengals don't win games against the best but do well against the teams that are similar to the Eagles at 4-9. Bengals cover the 3, Bengals.

NY Giants
@
Atlanta (-1.0)
Schultz Picks: Atlanta

World Picks: 56.1% - NY Giants
NYG 0 ATL 34 Atlanta Wins
Your Pick:

I think the team coming off a loss always plays better against the team coming off a win who may not play as well again next week. The Giants against the Saints set two franchise records. First, David Wilson and his 327 all-purpose yards and safety Stevie Brown and his 259 yards in returns. Both records. Unlikely to happen again this week. For Atlanta, with three games to go they need to continue to win to have home-field throughout the NFC playoffs. Being two games up on Green Bay and two up on the 49ers, it is not urgent to win but continuing to win helps. I just can't see Atlanta not responding after being dominated in Carolina. Atlanta covers and wins by 3.

Minnesota
@
St. Louis (-2.5)
Schultz Picks: St. Louis

World Picks: 60.0% - Minnesota
MIN 36 STL 22 Minnesota Wins
Your Pick:

Everything will be about stopping Adrian Peterson. To hit 2,000 rushing yards he needs about 133 per game over the final three games. Normally I would say no way but now I say it could happen. The Rams are coming off their third win in a row. We have not said that very often. When the season is over the fact that they tied and beat San Francisco this season says a lot about the future of Rams success and Jeff Fisher. Peterson may get his 133 against the Rams but the Rams may end up winning anyway. Rams cover the spread.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Jacksonville
@
Miami (-8.0)
Schultz Picks: Jacksonville

World Picks: 60.2% - Jacksonville
JAC 3 MIA 24 Miami Wins
Your Pick:

The number one problem for Jacksonville is run defence. Against the Bills, 232 allowed, against the Jets, 166 allowed. The number one problem for the Dolphins, they had their chances to win the game against the 49ers in the fourth quarter and could not put up the points. Both teams are evaluating while trying to win. Eight points is too many for me. Dolphins win by seven but no more. Take Jacksonville.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Green Bay (-3.0)
@
Chicago
Schultz Picks: Green Bay

World Picks: 85.9% - Green Bay
GB 21 CHI 13 Green Bay Wins
Your Pick:

History is definitely on the side of the Packers. They have won their last five in a row and seven of eight overall. I also like the running back combination of Alex Green and Ryan Grant. Both teams are extremely injury influenced but it is more likely that Green Bay gets key personnel back than Chicago. Aaron Rodgers has 29 touchdown passes, even on the road I can see one more touchdown drive put together than Jay Cutler can match with his offence. Green Bay covers the 3.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Washington (-1.0)
@
Cleveland
Schultz Picks: Cleveland

World Picks: 64.2% - Washington
WSH 38 CLE 21 Washington Wins
Your Pick:

Both teams are playing their respective best right now. Washington has won four in a row and the Browns have won three straight and it could have been four if not for an overtime loss in Dallas. This is a tough one because there will probably be no true clarity on Robert Griffin until right before kickoff. If he plays I go with the Redskins because of the style of offence he has mastered. But if he does not, I like the Browns as now the offence has to fit Kirk Cousins. After repeating the visuals in my mind of the hit on Griffin's leg, I would not be surprised if Cousins starts. Take the Browns.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Tampa Bay
@
New Orleans (-3.5)
Schultz Picks: Tampa Bay

World Picks: 64.9% - New Orleans
TB 0 NO 41 New Orleans Wins
Your Pick:

Both teams are still mathematically alive for the playoffs but I wonder if the Saints are burned out. I say that in reference to the fact that two franchise records were set against them in kick return yards and interception return yards last week against the Giants. It was a game in which they lost 52-27. The Bucs could end the season 9-7 and that would be a major improvment from 4-12 and losing 10 in a row to close out the season last year. As always, division games tend to be a little more competitive because teams draft to win their division first. Bucs keep it close.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Denver (-3.0)
@
Baltimore
Schultz Picks: Denver

World Picks: 72.1% - Denver
DEN 34 BAL 17 Denver Wins
Your Pick:

It is always difficult togo against Peyton Manning. Each and every time you think he would have an off game, he doesn't. Now with extra time having played Oakland on Thursday night, he had time to be ready for Baltimore. If it was any other QB than Manning, I would pick Baltimore, but it isn't so I'm going with Denver. Denver covers.

1:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Indianapolis
@
Houston (-9.0)
Schultz Picks: Indianapolis

World Picks: 64.5% - Indianapolis
IND 17 HOU 29 Houston Wins
Your Pick:

Too many points for me. Not sure how Andrew Luck does it but he gets it done. 18 interceptions, 18 touchdown passes but the Colts are 9-4. Houston is dealing with the 42 that Brady and his offence produced, scoring in every quarter. I don't think the Colts will be able to duplicate the same success, but I do think they can watch that Patriots video and take advantage of key 1-on-1 opportunities downfield. Houston wins, Colts keep it close.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Detroit (-5.5)
@
Arizona
Schultz Picks: Detroit

World Picks: 89.2% - Detroit
DET 10 ARI 38 Arizona Wins
Your Pick:

If not for a fumble return for a touchdown, Detroit could have and should have beaten Green Bay in Green Bay under snow and rain last Sunday night. In one of the most unusual statistics of the year, Matthew Stafford has a QB rating of 55 when winning, 94 when losing. Detroit competes every game; Arizona not so much. If Detroit scores first, how will the Cardinals respond? Patrick Peterson on Calvin Johnson will be fun to watch. Detroit covers.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Carolina
@
San Diego (-2.5)
Schultz Picks: Carolina

World Picks: 50.2% - Carolina
CAR 31 SD 7 Carolina Wins
Your Pick:

Cam Newton is playing his personal best right now. Over the last four games, he has 11 touchdowns and no turnovers. In another point of reality statistic, Carolina won their first coin toss all year against Atlanta. That does not determine winning but all will be watching come 1:05pm pt on Sunday. The Chargers do play exceptionally well in December, going 19-4 under Norv Turner. But, with Cam Newton playing at such a high level, it may not matter. Take the Panthers.

4:05 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Seattle (-5.0)
@
Buffalo
Schultz Picks: Seattle

World Picks: 81.0% - Seattle
SEA 50 BUF 17 Seattle Wins
Your Pick:

There is no homefield advantage for Buffalo. History shows that and the reality of playing in a stadium once a year is no different than if it was a divisional game. Last week's 58-0 win over a troubled Cardinal team shows a unique level of focus from the Seahawks. It is one thing to beat a team and it is another to completely dominate a team. With a win, Seattle could put extreme pressure on the 49ers when they play later Sunday night in New England. With five minutes left, St. Louis drove 84 yards in 14 plays to score a touchdown and get the 2-point conversion. Seattle can do the same. Seahawks covers the spread.

4:25 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Pittsburgh
@
Dallas (-1.0)
Schultz Picks: Pittsburgh

World Picks: 63.1% - Pittsburgh
PIT 24 DAL 27 Dallas Wins
Your Pick:

The Steelers are coming of a ridiculous game, losing 34-24 to the San Diego Chargers. For the Cowboys, it was the complete opposite with a tough win over a good Cincinnati Bengals team, making it happen in the fourth quarter when they had to. Receiver Dez Bryant is a big unknown. With a broken index finger, it is unlikely he will be able to catch the bullets from Tony Romo. With Pittsburgh, it is about how you respond. Every time they have lost to a team they should have beaten, such as Oakland, Tennessee, Cleveland and now San Diego, they have come back to win. Without Bryant, it is a much easier Cowboy team to defend. Steelers bounce back.

4:25 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

Kansas City
@
Oakland (-2.5)
Schultz Picks: Oakland

World Picks: 73.8% - Oakland
KC 0 OAK 15 Oakland Wins
Your Pick:

Combined, the two teams are 5-21. Kansas City has given the ball away 33 times this year to lead the league. For Oakland, I would not be surprised if they gave Terrelle Pryor a chance at QB to see what he can do as compared to Carson Palmer, who is already a known commodity. The Raiders are coming off the Thursday night 26-13 loss to Denver, while Kansas City lost 30-7 in Cleveland with the only touchdown being a 70-yard run by Jamaal Charles in the first quarter. Both teams are trying to win and evaluate personnel at the same time. The best kicker is Sebastian Janikowski so I'll give the edge to the Raiders in a field goal game. Take the Raiders.

8:20 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012

San Francisco
@
New England (-5.5)
Schultz Picks: San Francisco

World Picks: 74.0% - New England
SF 41 NE 34 San Francisco Wins
Your Pick:

After the 42 that the Patriots put on Houston, I should take the Pats in an easy win . After all, in the last six games, the Patriots have scored 37 or more in all but one. And the 49ers have been dominated in the past, going back to the 26-3 loss to the Giants in Week 6, right in San Francisco. But I can't do it. The 49ers do not have the secondary issues that Houston had and now have a new option with Le Micheal James and Frank Gore both playing effectively at running back. Brady is better than Kaepernick, but Kaepernick can do things Brady can't. Go with the 49ers.

8:30 PM Monday, December 17, 2012

NY Jets
@
Tennessee (-1.0)
Schultz Picks: NY Jets

World Picks: 51.5% - NY Jets
NYJ 10 TEN 14 Tennessee Wins
Your Pick:

Jon Gruden will have to be at his best to make this one interesting. At 6-7, the Jets still have a shot at the playoffs if they get to 9-7 with a win at Tennessee, at Green Bay and Jacksonville at home. That's very unlikely but in the game against Jacksonville, the run-to-pass ratio in the second half was 28-6. Even though it is a Monday night game, I have to go with the team that has something more to play for than jobs in 2O13. Jets to win.
