IndianapolisIndianapolis (-3.0)

Schultz Picks: Indianapolis

World Picks: 87.2% - Indianapolis
IND 30 TEN 27 Tie
Your Pick:

Since Chuck Pagano has been the head coach for the Colts they have not lost two games in a row. Add to that the three interceptions by Andrew Luck in the 38-8 loss to St. Louis. Both as a team under the influence of Pagano and the pride to perform with Luck I expect a high urgency game from Indianapolis. With Tennessee's Jake Locker out for the year this one is up to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now Fitzpatrick has 70 NFL starts of experience so this is not football overload by any means, but he is not a dominant quarterback. Chris Johnson will in all liklihood get his 1,000 yards by the end of the season but has a 3.6 yards per carry average. Both teams are coming off big losses but the Colts are a playoff team waiting to experience the playoffs. Tennessee at 4-5 would have to win 6 of 7 to make it a 10-win season. Colts cover the 3. Colts.

BuffaloBuffalo (-1.0)
Schultz Picks: Buffalo

World Picks: 56.0% - NY Jets
NYJ 14 BUF 37 Buffalo Wins
Your Pick:

Two quarterbacks of the future in EJ Manuel and Geno Smith. Smith is coming off the bye week, while Manuel did not play well in Pittsburgh. The Jets have had a pattern of win one, lose one all season and if the pattern continues this will be a loss at Orchard Park. Both teams will try to run effectively to limit 3rd-and-long situations where their young quarterbacks have to make key plays. There is not much separating either team so home field could be the single biggest reality of influence. Even in the Kansas City game with a third-string quarterback the Bills played well if not for two plays. Should be low scoring. Bills cover the 1 and win by 3.

ChicagoChicago (-3.0)
Schultz Picks: Baltimore

World Picks: 52.9% - Baltimore
BAL 20 CHI 23 Tie
Your Pick:

Josh McCown will start for Chicago as Jay Cutler came back too early. Ravens are still a possible playoff team with seven to go and one more game againt the Bengals on December 29. Ravens need better play from their two best on offence but could take advantage of Charles Tillman being out for the year with arm injury. Last week was a must-win for the Ravens, and so is this week. Ravens in a close game.

CincinnatiCincinnati (-5.5)
Schultz Picks: Cleveland

World Picks: 69.0% - Cincinnati
CLE 20 CIN 41 Cincinnati Wins
Your Pick:

Coming off the bye week the Browns are a pretty good 4-5 team. But they do play a Bengal team that is undefeated at home and coming off two overtime losses, at Baltimore and at Miami. The first Browns-Bengals game was a surprise 14-6 Browns win. Can't help but think the combo loss of Geno Atkins up front and cornerback Leon Hall has made a difference defensively with the Bengals. Jason Champbell has five touchdowns and no interceptions. Divisional influence here. Browns on points.

PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia (-3.5)
Schultz Picks: Philadelphia

World Picks: 75.2% - Philadelphia
WSH 16 PHI 24 Philadelphia Wins
Your Pick:

Very interesting game because of the emergence of Nick Foles at quarterback in Philadelphia. Foles has 16 touchdown passes and not one interception. That is a ratio of success versus mistakes that is significant. The Redskins are coming off the bye week and with a win would only be one game behind the Eagles and Cowboys in the NFC East. The Eagle defence is also coming on with 10 interceptions and 35 forced punts in the last six games. I hate to not go with the home underdog esspically in a divisional game but Foles deep ball ability will keep run support from the safeties to a minimum. And LeSean McCoy tops the NFL in rushing yards with 932. Eagles by a touchdown to cover the 3.5. Eagles.

DetroitDetroit (-2.0)
@
Schultz Picks: Detroit

World Picks: 72.7% - Detroit
DET 27 PIT 37 Pittsburgh Wins
Your Pick:

A 3-6 playing a 6-3. The Lions have won five of their last seven and in the two losses one was by a last play field goal against Cincinnati and the other was in Green Bay when Calvin Johnson did not play due to injury. The key is Antonio Brown for Pittsburgh. He has 20 receptions in the last three games. Just like the chemistry between Matthew Stafford and Johnson, Ben Roethlisberger has that with Brown. This one is a field goal game and Detroit with seven games left to win the NFC North needs that field goal. Lions cover the 2 and win by 3. Lions.

AtlantaAtlanta (-1.0)

Schultz Picks: Tampa Bay

World Picks: 53.3% - Atlanta
ATL 28 TB 41 Tampa Bay Wins
Your Pick:

I was impressed by the Bucs on Monday Night Football. They finally worked through fourth quarter adversity and won. The Falcons have injury issues at left tackle with Sam Baker and are 0-4 on the road. This will probably be very similar to the Miami game with Tampa Bay playing well early, Atlanta coming back to make it a game and maybe, just maybe the Bucs getting their second win in 2013. The Seahawks in their 33-10 win in Atlanta totalled 490 yards. I do not expect the Bucs to do the same but I do expect them to win by 3. Bucs.

ArizonaArizona (-6.5)
@
Schultz Picks: Arizona

World Picks: 82.1% - Arizona
ARI 27 JAC 14 Arizona Wins
Your Pick:

Jacksonville earned their first win in Tennessee and the pressure to get that first win is now off. Now comes an Arizona Cardinal team that may have lost four games but the last three were to Seattle, at San Francisco and at New Orleans. The first quarter will be very important for both teams. Before the Tennessee game Jacksonville was outscored 35-0 in the previous three games. Arizona on defence is quietly good and should hold Jacksonville to 17 points. So can Arizona score at least 24 to cover? Yes they can. Arizona continues to improve, but the Jags will come back to reality. Arizona covers 6.5.

HoustonHouston (-7.0)
Schultz Picks: Oakland

World Picks: 56.7% - Houston
OAK 28 HOU 23 Oakland Wins
Your Pick:

It is amazing how if you win the close games, success. Lose the close games, failure. In Houston's last three games they have lost by 3 to Arizona, 3 to Indianapolis, and 1 to Kansas City. Logic says the Texans roll but at 2-7 the playoffs are not realistic. Houston wins, but Oakland keeps it close. Oakland on points.

San DiegoSan Diego (-1.5)

Schultz Picks: San Diego

World Picks: 88.1% - San Diego
SD 16 MIA 20 Miami Wins
Your Pick:

I like the Chargers. Miami has turned into a constant changing soap opera that over time has to wear on players. Not the Chargers. At 4-5 and with a quarterback completing 71 per cent of his passes in Philip Rivers the Chargers are striving for a 10-win season with seven to go. I like the running back combination of Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead to make a difference as Miami does not have anything similar to match. If the Chargers could ever go on a "takeaway run" for the rest of the season they could make the playoffs. Right now they have the lowest takeaway total in NFL football with six (two fumbles and four interceptions). With Ryan Tannehill leading the NFL by absorbing 37 quarterback sacks I like the Chargers' chances to control the line of scrimmage. Chargers cover that 1.5. Chargers.

New OrleansNew Orleans (-3.0)
Schultz Picks: New Orleans

World Picks: 82.6% - New Orleans
SF 20 NO 23 Tie
Your Pick:

One team desperately wants to play ball possession, dominate time of possession and take a physical battle into the fourth quarter. That is 49ers football. The other team wants to score fast and often early and put so much pressure on the opposition that the game plan of time of possession is no longer relevant as you are playing catch up football from the beginning of the game. What happened against Dallas last week will not happen against San Francisco. That is a given. But this will be the best quarterback, receiver and running back offence that the 49ers have played since Week 1 against Green Bay at home. One team wants to score slow. One team fast. I'm taking the fast team. New Orleans covers the 3. Saints.

NY GiantsNY Giants (-6.5)
Schultz Picks: Green Bay

World Picks: 54.9% - NY Giants
GB 13 NYG 27 NY Giants Wins
Your Pick:

Normally if it was Aaron Rodgers at quarterback this would be the Packers favoured by 10. But he is not and they are not. Scott Tolzien is Green Bay's starter this week. All considered he did a pretty good job last week but now on the road it's a much greater challenge. Fourth quarter performance has been an ongoing problem in Green Bay and may be an issue again as Andre Brown has taken over as the top running back and can dominate time of possession given the chance. But so can Eddie Lacy. Defensively the football team must improve and Lacy must outperform Brown. I think both will happen. Packers.

SeattleSeattle (-13.0)
Schultz Picks: Seattle

World Picks: 73.3% - Seattle
MIN 20 SEA 41 Seattle Wins
Your Pick:

Seahawks should dominate. One of the best secondaries in football will go man-on-man and then when ready overload the tackle box to take Adrian Peterson away. Last year, Vikings at Seahawks, only 44 total passing yards so could the same results repeat? It's more likely than a dominant passing performance from Minnesota. Percy Harvin should also play and the timing is perfect. With Sidney Rice out for the year and a bye week next week the Seahawks have first place in the NFC West as a realistic goal. Seahawks take care of business and cover 13.

DenverDenver (-8.5)
Schultz Picks: Denver

World Picks: 60.0% - Kansas City
KC 17 DEN 27 Denver Wins
Your Pick:

The key to the game is not Peyton Manning, it is the two offensive tackles for Denver. Left tackle Chris Clark and right tackle Canadian Orlando Franklin. If they can handle Tamba Hali and Justin Houston as individual pass rushers one-on-one Manning will find the open receiver and produce. Also a fast start means a lot. Kansas City is not a come from behind team, they manage games and win in the fourth quarter through attrition. If Denver jumps out too fast it takes KC into an unknown, having to play catch-up. The Broncos are undefeated at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, winning by an average of 22 points. The Chiefs are undefeated on the road, winning on average by 13. And that could be the final score, 22-13 for Denver. Manning may not have the best playoff record but in the regular season at home for first place in the AFC West I will side with Manning over Alex Smith. Can Denver control Jamaal Charles who gets the ball 24 times a game? I think they can. Broncos cover 8.5.

CarolinaCarolina (-2.0)
Schultz Picks: Carolina

World Picks: 58.7% - New England
NE 20 CAR 24 Carolina Wins
Your Pick:

A lot of winning football is about passing a test. And man did the Carolina Panthers pass one in the 10-9 win against a physical 49ers team coming off the bye. It was Carolina's fifth straight win and they are one game behind the Saints, whom they play twice in December. Carolina's test this week is the New England Patriots who like the 49ers are coming off the bye. Last time we saw Tom Brady he was capping off a 55-point performance against Pittsburgh. That won't happen this week. Carolina allows only 12 points a game and have 11 interceptions, 9 fumble recoveries, 29 sacks and two defensive touchdowns. The key is how do the Panthers handle the fast-paced Patriot offence? I think they will adjust just fine. The Panthers are for real, real enough to win by 3. Panthers.
