DenverDenver (-10.5)
Schultz Picks: Denver

World Picks: 65.4% - Denver
SD 27 DEN 20 San Diego Wins
Your Pick:

Well, we can dismiss any and all conversation that Peyton Manning cannot handle the cold weather. After four touchdown passes and 371 yards in beating Tennessee, 51-28, the brutal weather was not a factor. The lowest point total Manning's offence has put up this year is 27, and three times it has been 50 or higher. The Broncos beat the Chargers 28-20 four weeks ago and there were moments when the Chargers were in control. Philip Rivers is quietly having a great year with a 70 per cent completion rate, 26 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. Manning does not have as high completion rate at 67 per cent but with 45 touchdowns and nine interceptions, he is five away from equalling Tom Brady's record of 50 in one season. All he needs is two touchdowns in each of the next three games and after this week, the Broncos are at Houston and Oakland so that record is going down. Wes Welker will probably not play. WR Keenan Allan has played very well for San Diego and Denver has problems on defence so logic says Chargers keep it within 10.5 but I can't go against the best passing offence in football. Broncos cover.

AtlantaAtlanta (-6.0)
Schultz Picks: Atlanta

World Picks: 81.3% - Atlanta
WSH 26 ATL 27 Washington Wins
Your Pick:

Last week, the Redskins were scored upon in every way possible in the loss to the Chiefs; run for touchdown, pass for touchdown, punt return for touchdown and kick return for touchdown. Both teams have similar problems in red zone defence - Washington is 32nd and Atlanta is 30th - but Atlanta has a proven quarterback in Matt Ryan while Washington is going with Kirk Cousins which I think is the right thing to do. Both teams are 3-10 but Atlanta's last three games have been decided by eight points while Washington's last three have been decided by 63. The best player on the field is Roddy White with 18 catches and 217 yards last two games. Falcons cover.

ClevelandCleveland (-1.5)
Schultz Picks: Chicago

World Picks: 85.2% - Chicago
CHI 38 CLE 31 Chicago Wins
Your Pick:

The Bears should be able to score some points because Cleveland has allowed 41, 27, 32 and 27 over the last four games. Also they have excellent perimeter talent with Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennet and the emergence of Alshon Jeffery. That keeps the strong safety off the line of scrimmage which sets up Matt Forte's running success. Football is so simple sometimes. The Bears are in a race for first place, chasing the Detroit Lions, who have a tough one Monday night against a motivated Baltimore Ravens team. Dallas did score 28 points on Chicago but about 14 of those came after the game was decided and Cleveland does not have a DeMarco Murray on their roster. This should be high scoring but I like the Bears to score more. Take the Bears.

New EnglandNew England (-3.0)

Schultz Picks: Miami

World Picks: 67.2% - New England
NE 20 MIA 24 Miami Wins
Your Pick:

The Dolphins have won four of their last six games and seem to be improving. And they get to play a 'Gronkowski-less' Patriots team. This is a very significant injury as during the seven games he played, the Patriots scored the second-most points in the NFL. Huge loss. With Miami, Ryan Tannehill is doing whatever is necessary to win, producing a 48-yard run last week. Yes, Antonio Brown should have stayed inbounds and Pittsburgh could have won, but the Steelers scored on a defensive touchdown with Troy Polamalu to keep them in a cold weather game they should have dominated against a non-cold weather team This is a great opportunity for the Dolphins to put all the off-field adversity behind them and make a serious run at a wild card playoff spot. The first Dolphins/Patriots game ended up 27-17 for New England but Miami did have a 17-0 halftime lead. This time around, they will learn to keep an opponent down. The Patriots have first-half problems but second-half excellence. Miami takes advantage. Go with the Dolphins.

PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia (-5.0)

Schultz Picks: Philadelphia

World Picks: 84.2% - Philadelphia
PHI 30 MIN 48 Minnesota Wins
Your Pick:

The health of Adrian Peterson is critical in this game but Toby Gerhart and his 7.9 yard rushing average could fill in quite well. Against Green Bay, Chicago and Baltimore, the Vikings have lost by three in overtime twice and again in an amazing comeback by Baltimore. Nick Foles now has 20 touchdowns and just one interception and an excellent deep ball against a suspect defence. Given the Eagles are 5-1 on the road, playing on a fast Mall of America Field and the unknown status of Adrian Peterson's durability, I think the Eagles win by 7. Take the Eagles.

SeattleSeattle (-7.0)
@
Schultz Picks: Seattle

World Picks: 89.3% - Seattle
SEA 23 NYG 0 Seattle Wins
Your Pick:

Seattle has won five of seven away from home and the two losses were by six at Indianapolis and last week by two against San Francisco. They now play a non-playoff team in the 5-8 Giants that allowed San Diego to score 37 points. The only way I see the Giants winning is if Andre Brown has a monster day running the ball and they win the time of possession battle. But it is more likely that Marshawn Lynch will be the dominant running back. This will be the best defence New York has played since Carolina in Week 3 and they lost that game 38-0. Coming off a loss, Seattle should be focused, knowing they could be back at MetLife Stadium again come February 2. Seattle wins by 10.

IndianapolisIndianapolis (-6.0)
Schultz Picks: Indianapolis

World Picks: 88.1% - Indianapolis
HOU 3 IND 25 Indianapolis Wins
Your Pick:

The Texans have lost 11 games in a row and the Colts have wrapped up the NFC South but are not playing their best right now. The goal for Indy is to gain confidence and get on a roll. If they can achieve wins in a convincing way over Houston, at Kansas City and Jacksonville, they could be a dangerous team in the playoffs because of Andrew Luck's fourth-quarter skills. They have to improve the run defence which is 29th in the league right now. Will the coaching change make a vast difference for Houston? Not really as it was inevitable as November turned into December. The Colts should respond after a very difficult 42-28 loss in Cincinnati and must find a way to protect Luck better. I think they do both and win by 7. Colts cover.

San FranciscoSan Francisco (-5.0)
@
Schultz Picks: San Francisco

World Picks: 85.3% - San Francisco
SF 33 TB 14 San Francisco Wins
Your Pick:

If, and it's a big if, the Bucs were to win, it would change their perception of 2014 as they have won four of their last five games. But last time they played a top defence in Carolina, they only scored six points. The 49ers do have to be aware that this is a bit of a trap game after a tough two-point win over Seattle, a West to East road game with a 1pm start and a young and improving quarterback in Mike Glennon, who has more than twice as many touchdown passes as interceptions. Head coach Greg Schiano was criticized for getting rid of QB Josh Freeman and taking a gamble with third-round draft pick Glennon but it looks like a good decision now. At 9-4, the 49ers are tied with Carolina for the third seed in the playoffs but Carolina has the tie-breaker. If Carolina loses that, the 49ers play the sixth seed which could be a team with problems on defence like Dallas or Detroit in San Francisco. With Bolden, Crabtree and Davis all healthy and a good run game with three straight East coast wins, I like the 49ers by 7. San Francisco covers.

BuffaloBuffalo (-2.0)
@
Schultz Picks: Jacksonville

World Picks: 76.7% - Jacksonville
BUF 27 JAC 20 Buffalo Wins
Your Pick:

The Jacksonville Jaguars have won four of their last five games and have extra time to prepare for December football after the Thursday night win over Houston. The Bills have lost five of their last six games and in the five losses, only one was a close loss (34-31) against Atlanta in Toronto. The other four have been by 10 or more. The best player on a non-winning team may be middle linebacker Paul Posluszny, a original Buffalo Bills draft pick who the Jaguars can build upon as the try to achieve competitive respectability in 2014. Gus Bradley has made an attitude difference with the Jaguars and Doug Marone is still working on it with the Bills. This one is home team influenced. Go with the Jaguars.

CarolinaCarolina (-11.0)
Schultz Picks: Carolina

World Picks: 71.7% - Carolina
NYJ 20 CAR 30 NY Jets Wins
Your Pick:

This is the wrong time to be playing Carolina and Cam Newton. The Panthers had given up only nine passing touchdowns all year until New Orleans scored four last week. For the Jets to win, Geno Smith would have to do the same in Carolina. If head coach Ron Rivera can win out, they would be 12-4, good enough for the third seed in the AFC, probably behind Seattle and New Orleans, which is an excellent motivator in December. Bounce back game of the week is Carolina over the Jets. Go with Carolina.

Kansas CityKansas City (-4.5)
@
Schultz Picks: Kansas City

World Picks: 88.9% - Kansas City
KC 56 OAK 31 Kansas City Wins
Your Pick:

Maybe because it is the divisional matchup or maybe the competitive history but this is not many points when one team is 10-3 and the other team is 4-9. The Chiefs regained a lot of confidence scoring four different ways in their easy win over Washington. The Raiders may have lost a little confidence losing their third in a row against a Jets team that scored 37 points. The first Raiders/Chiefs game was an easy 24-7 win for the Chiefs. This one being in Oakland should be closer but still more than a touchdown for Kansas City. Also, the Raiders are 3-3 at home while the Chiefs are 5-1 on the road. This will be the 107th time the Raiders play the Chiefs and overall, the Chiefs have won four more than the Raiders. Great history but who is the better team right now? The Chiefs win by 7 and cover.

4:25 PM Sunday, December 15, 2013

New OrleansNew Orleans (-6.0)
@
Schultz Picks: New Orleans

World Picks: 90.5% - New Orleans
NO 16 STL 27 St. Louis Wins
Your Pick:

Yes it's true, New Orleans is a different team on the road than at home. But being on the road at Seattle's CenturyLink Field is not the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. Zac Stacy (721 yards) and Tavon Austin (40 catches) are excellent players, but they are the only two to support Kellen Clemens. Drew Brees has Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston, Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas. Even if the Saints lose to Carolina next week, they still win the division if they beat St. Louis and then Tampa Bay in Week 17. Also, the Saints have played two very good pass-rushing teams in Seattle and Carolina so this will be the third in a row with St. Louis. There are too many good players on offence for the Saints not to take advantage in a 'fast track' dome. Saints cover.

Schultz Picks: Dallas

World Picks: 73.5% - Dallas
GB 37 DAL 36 Green Bay Wins
Your Pick:

**Note: Based on the unknown status of Aaron Rodgers, this game has "no line" at publishing time and Schultz vs. the World will treat the game as a "pick'em"** The No. 1 question in Green Bay is the reality health of Aaron Rodgers. I say reality health because we won't know the reality of his playing until the last possible moment. Early in the week Rodgers expressed that he had not made progress and has concerns. Given the number of weeks he has been out already I personally doubt he will play. If Green Bay wins and Chicago and Detroit lose then the Packers have a shot to win the NFC North and Rodgers' risk reward would be worth it. But if all three of those circumstances don't come together than it would not be worth the risk of further injury as he in many evaluations is the best quarterback in football. For Dallas the reality is their defence is breaking records in all the wrong categories. Key is the health again of Sean Lee as a neck compression is as serious as it gets. A decision has to be made and it is more likely that Lee plays than Rodgers. A franchise quarterback is a once-in-a-decade possibility acquisition. Err on the side of caution. Dallas.

ArizonaArizona (-3.0)

Schultz Picks: Arizona

World Picks: 81.1% - Arizona
ARI 37 TEN 34 Tie
Your Pick:

This is 8-5 against 5-8 but the Cardinals are winners of five of their last six games and the losses are all against good teams with the exception of St. Louis in Week 1. The injury loss of Tyrann Mathieu is significant as he was making plays in both the passing and running game. Of greater importance, Carson Palmer is making fewer mistakes and more positive plays. Larry Fitzgerald's 12 catches last week means confidence is high and chemistry is developing. The Titans are not a dominant team on offence, while the Cardinals can be on defence. This is a must-win for Arizona as their last two games are at Seattle and San Francisco. Arizona covers.

8:30 PM Sunday, December 15, 2013

CincinnatiCincinnati (-3.0)
@
Schultz Picks: Cincinnati

World Picks: 72.8% - Cincinnati
CIN 20 PIT 30 Pittsburgh Wins
Your Pick:

Now at 5-8 the Steelers lost this season in September and first week of October when they went 0-4. Both teams have excellent individual receivers with Antonio Brown and AJ Green but the Bengals also have Marvin Jones, Tyler Eifert, Giovani Bernard and Andrew Hawkins. The Bengals already have a 10-point win at home over the Steelers but now in Pittsburgh with possible poor field playing conditions, this one could be closer. If you add up the rushing totals of Green-Ellis and Bernard, you have almost 1,300 yards. If the game is weather-influenced, I like the Bengals' chances to win with two good running backs. At 9-4, Cincinnati could catch New England for the second seed and the bye if they win and New England loses. And that is what I think happens here in Week 15. Bengals over Steelers by more than three.

8:40 PM Monday, December 16, 2013

@
DetroitDetroit (-6.0)
Schultz Picks: Baltimore

World Picks: 50.0% - Detroit
BAL 18 DET 16 Baltimore Wins
Your Pick:

Both teams are very happy to be out of the snow and in Ford Field, home of the Lions. I thought the weather kept both teams from playing their best last week. For Baltimore, it was evident in the six lead changes in the fourth quarter, an NFL record. That's not going to happen again. For Detroit, they could not hang on to the football and could not tackle effectively in open space. Again, that's not going to happen again. The Ravens have lost six games and four of them have been by three points or less. It's a must win on Monday night to stay with or surpass the Dolphins, who play New England in Miami. The Ravens keep it close on Monday night. Take the Ravens and the points.
