Week 7 Picks

SeattleSeattle (-6.5)

Schultz Picks: Seattle

World Picks: 74.6% - Seattle
SEA 34 ARI 22 Seattle Wins
Your Pick:

At 5-1, Seattle has an excellent opportunity to be 10-1, their next five opponents a combined 8-19. Arizona matches up well on defence but Carson Palmer has interception issues that may never change. Also, Larry Fitzgerald is not 100 percent so the battle with Richard Sherman may be one-sided. Logic says Arizona keeps it close due to defence and their ability on punt return ability with Patrick Peterson. But I can't depend on Palmer playing mistake-free football. The Seahawks will cover.

AtlantaAtlanta (-7.0)
Schultz Picks: Atlanta

World Picks: 82.3% - Atlanta
TB 23 ATL 31 Atlanta Wins
Your Pick:

This is pretty much it for Atlanta. At 1-4 and with the Saints at 5-1 the goal is now a wild card spot. If the Eagles can score 31 on Tampa Bay's defence on the road so can Atlanta. Still, with back to back losses against the Patriots and Jets the Georgia Dome has lost its effect. Mike Glennon will be a good quarterback and has an excellent arm, but road wins are always a major challenge for rookies at football's most important position. With the bye week to re-evaluate and a now-or-never mentality, I see a 10-point win for the Falcons. Atlanta covers.

DetroitDetroit (-2.5)
Schultz Picks: Detroit

World Picks: 65.0% - Detroit
CIN 27 DET 24 Cincinnati Wins
Your Pick:

I have to go with a bit of logic hear. In his first start Thad Lewis took the Bengals to overtime before losing 27-24. Now, for the second week in a row the Bengals go on the road and play in a dome, and this week go from Thad Lewis to Matt Stafford. Last week the Bengals didn't have to defend the injured Stevie Johnson, this week they have to defend Calvin Johnson. Both teams have been hard to read at this point of the season but three points for Detriot sounds better than Cincinnati winning two straight away from Paul Brown Stadium. Lions cover.

MiamiMiami (-8.5)
Schultz Picks: Buffalo

World Picks: 53.4% - Buffalo
BUF 23 MIA 21 Buffalo Wins
Your Pick:

This may be too many points for me. Thad Lewis looked good at quarterback for the Bills last week. The game was not too big for him but now that he's on the road the challenge is raised. With Miami coming off their bye week they will be at their best, but they don't dominate teams as much as control the game. If Bills LB Kiko Alonso keeps it up he could be in the running for rookie of the year; he has four interceptions and 66 tackles. The Dolphins need to improve their offensive line, the Bills strength is their defensive line. All that money they paid is beginning to shine. Bills on points.

Schultz Picks: New England

World Picks: 89.7% - New England
NE 27 NYJ 30 NY Jets Wins
Your Pick:

I remember when the Patriots only scored six points against a good Cincinnati Bengals defence back in Week 5. But I also remember that when times are toughest Tom Brady will be at his best. Remarkable comeback last week. Did you know the Patriots hold the NFL record for consecutive games forcing a turnover with 33? Geno Smith is more likely to self-implode than Brady. The first game between these two was a 13-10 win for New England, but that was Week 2 when all the receivers were still new. Key injury to watch out for: Aqib Talib, a very good cover cornerback. Patriots cover the spread.

PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia (-3.0)
Schultz Picks: Philadelphia

World Picks: 57.1% - Dallas
DAL 17 PHI 3 Dallas Wins
Your Pick:

The three Eagles losses have been against good teams: the Chargers, and the undefeated Chiefs and Broncos. The 3 losses by the Cowboys? Identical: Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos. But going into this game no DeMarcus Ware and of even greater significance no Demarco Murray for Dallas. I like Nick Foles. He's from the University of Arizona and proud of it! Six touchdowns and no interceptions, we may be seeing a quarterback transition in Philadelphia if he can remain error-free. My mind says Dallas but I'm not sure if LB Sean Lee can catch LeSean McCoy all game long. There should be a lot of points in this one as the Eagles have passed for 1,628 yards and ran for 1,701 yards and are going up against the Cowboys who have allowed the third most total yards in the league. One thing is for sure: the Eagles will not give up a punt return for a touchdown and kick return to set up a touchdown. The Eagles cover the 3.

WashingtonWashington (-1.0)
Schultz Picks: Chicago

World Picks: 79.4% - Chicago
CHI 41 WSH 45 Washington Wins
Your Pick:

The Bears are coming of the Thursday night game with a 27- 21 win over the Giants. The Redskins are coming off a humbling loss in Dallas, 31-16. It's hard to see the Redskins falling to 1-5, but it's also hard to see the Bears not creating a key turnover or two to secure a win. If Washington is going to win they must have better starts in every game. They have been outscored 90-37 in the first half of games this year. The only team Washington beat was Oakland, 24-14. Chicago is not Oakland. Tough one, but I like the 1-point underdog Bears.

CarolinaCarolina (-6.0)
Schultz Picks: Carolina

World Picks: 53.7% - Carolina
STL 15 CAR 30 Carolina Wins
Your Pick:

The only two teams that Carolina has beaten are the winless New York Giants and the one-win Minnesota Vikings. At 3-3 the Rams are not removed from playoff contention but Sam Bradford need to continue playing well (13 touchdowns to only three interceptions). There are two great linebackers in this game: Luke Kuechly and James Laurinaitis. Of the two it is the Rams Laurinaitis that must have a great game. The Panthers are third in total defence and St. Louis is 30th in total offence. The Texans moved the ball on the Rams but the Rams won on a single game changing play. I'm taking Carolina's defence to dominate. Panthers cover.

San DiegoSan Diego (-7.5)

Schultz Picks: San Diego

World Picks: 86.6% - San Diego
SD 24 JAC 6 San Diego Wins
Your Pick:

It's a long distance game on a short week for San Diego: west coast to east coast and a 1pm kickoff Jacksonville time. But I was very impressed by San Diego on Monday night. The three running backs, Ryan Mathews, Danny Woodhead, and Ronnie Brown were pounded into the interior of the Colts defence and the result was four drives of 10 plays or more. They dominated time of possession. If they can do it against the Colts at home, they can do it against the Jaguars on the road. The Chargers cover the 7.5.

San FranciscoSan Francisco (-4.5)
@
Schultz Picks: San Francisco

World Picks: 87.7% - San Francisco
SF 31 TEN 17 San Francisco Wins
Your Pick:

Ryan Fitzpatrick has had to go against three top defences. First Kansas City, when he scored only 17 points, then Seattle, scoring only 13 points, and now the 49ers. On the opposite side the 49ers have scored 32, 34, and 35. The 32 was against a good Cardinals defence. I think the 49ers can concentrate on Chris Johnson and force Fitzpatrick to beat them. The Titans have to worry about everybody. 49ers cover the 4.5.

Kansas CityKansas City (-6.5)
Schultz Picks: Kansas City

World Picks: 83.2% - Kansas City
HOU 16 KC 17 Houston Wins
Your Pick:

It's hard not to like the Chiefs. Their greatest asset is the 11 players that don't play with the ball, just want to get the ball. Over their six games points allowed are 2, 16, 16, 7, 17, and 17. That is exceptional! If this keeps up Andy Reid will be up for NFL coach of the year. Houston has to have confidence issues by now. The Texans have 15 turnovers in six games. That's even more significant when you consider they had 17 in 16 games last year. The two loudest stadiums in the NFL are Arrowhead Stadium in KC and CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Some say Arrowhead is No. 1. KC covers the 6.5 and remains undefeated.

PittsburghPittsburgh (-2.0)
Schultz Picks: Baltimore

World Picks: 71.6% - Baltimore
BAL 16 PIT 19 Pittsburgh Wins
Your Pick:

I'm a little surprised the Steelers are favored. Not sure if Pittsburgh can control the line of scrimmage on offence. They traded for Levi Brown for consistency on the offensive line and now he is out with injury. Yes, the Steelers are coming off their best game, a 19-6 win over the Jets with Geno Smith. Now they have to defend Joe Flacco. There is nothing more important than protecting the quarterback and conversely, getting to the quarterback. I think the Ravens have a better chance of doing both. Baltimore by 3.

Green BayGreen Bay (-10.0)
Schultz Picks: Green Bay

World Picks: 70.9% - Green Bay
CLE 13 GB 31 Green Bay Wins
Your Pick:

The Browns are a surprising 3-3 while the Packers have injury concerns at 3-2. Even without Clay Matthews the Packers can play good run defence, holding Baltimore and Ray Rice to 47 yards on 22 attempts. But I just can't see Brandon Weedon, who is trying to improve, keeping pace with Aaron Rodgers, who is already there. The Packers will miss Randall Cobb as a do-everything player, but you watch, a new star will shine as Mike McCarthy is aware of the excellence and depth of personnel the Packers have, and the benefits of it. Detroit put 37 on the Browns in Cleveland and so can the Packers in Green Bay. The Browns are improving, the Packers are apexing. Packers cover the fat 10.

DenverDenver (-6.5)

Schultz Picks: Denver

World Picks: 78.7% - Denver
DEN 33 IND 39 Indianapolis Wins
Your Pick:

I put nothing on the 35-19 win over Jacksonville for Denver. It was sandwiched between the Dallas Cowboys and this return game for Peyton Manning. Nothing. Also, the Broncos expect Von Miller back from suspension. He has a lot to prove as a pro football player and this is step No. 1. The Colts showed they could be physically dominated on the line of scrimmage and lose time of possession real fast. Manning is a master of running plays related to time availability or unavailability. In 15 of their last 17 games the Broncos have played they have scored 30 or more points. Manning will not be vengeful, but he will send a message. Broncos cover 6.5

Schultz Picks: NY Giants

World Picks: 74.4% - NY Giants
MIN 7 NYG 23 NY Giants Wins
Your Pick:

From last Thursday night against the Bears to this Monday night against the Vikings, there is plenty of time for the Giants to regroup in every possible way. And Eli Manning is playing a Vikings defence that has allowed 31 or more points five of six games and 27 in the other one. The Vikings will go with Josh Freeman at QB, he still has to run the offense. It will be eight in the Box for the Giants to make sure Adrian Peterson does not control the game. Eli is due for a bounce back game, this is perfect. I'm taking the Giants.
