Leafs sign RFA Gardiner to five-year, $20.25M contract
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed restricted free agent defenceman Jake Gardiner to a five-year contract on Tuesday. The deal is worth $20.25 million with an average annual value of $4.05 million per season. Full Story.(Photo: Brian Babineau/Getty Images)
The Winnipeg Jets announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with winger Michael Frolik on a one-year contract worth $3.3 million, avoiding salary arbitration. Both sides were scheduled to meet for their arbitration hearing on Thursday. Frolik, 26, scored 15 goals and 42 points with the Jets last season. Full Story.
Carolina Hurricanes centre Eric Staal underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury suffered during off-season training. The team added that Staal is expected to return in time for training camp and be ready for the start of the regular season. Full Story.
