Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics reinstated left-handed pitcher Eric O'Flaherty from the 60-day disabled list and designated left- handed pitcher Jeff Francis for assignment, the club announced Thursday.
O'Flaherty began the season on the 60-day DL as he continued to recover from May 21, 2013 Tommy John surgery. He signed a two-year contract with the A's as a free agent in January.
The 29-year-old O'Flaherty went 3-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 19 appearances with the Braves in 2013 prior to being shelved.
Francis was claimed off waivers by the A's from Cincinnati on May 18. He went 0-1 with a save and a 6.08 ERA in nine relief appearances with Oakland after going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in one start with the Reds.
