The Hamilton Bulldogs announced Wednesday that the club will open its 2012 training camp in Sherbrooke, Quebec on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The team will first have their medicals and physical testing at Bell Sports Complex in Brossard on Sept. 28 and move to Sherbrooke where they will practice at Complexe Sportif Jocelyn-Thibault from Sunday, Sept. 29 to Wednesday, Oct. 3. They will also play two intra-squad games while in Sherbrooke.
On Tuesday, Oct. 2 the team will take to the ice at the Complexe sportif Jocelyn-Thibault and on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Palais des Sports Léopold-Drolet.
The Bulldogs training camp will be led by head coach and former Montreal Canadiens defenceman Sylvain Lefebvre. "I was raised in this area and had the opportunity to play during two seasons with the Canadiens AHL affiliate team in Sherbrooke, so I am delighted to be returning to the Eastern Townships
to hold part of our training camp," he said.
"We are convinced that hockey fans in the area will be happy to have a closer look at the young prospects of the organization."
The Bulldogs will continue their training camp in Ontario from October 4-12.
The Bulldogs' 17th season-opener is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will play the Griffins. The team's 2012-13 home-opener is set for Friday, Oct. 19 when they will host the Toronto Marlies at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
