Scheifele, Burmistrov among those re-assigned by Jets

In advance of the impending NHL lockout, the Winnipeg Jets assigned some of their young talent to both the AHL and OHL levels.

Mark Scheifele and Alexander Burmistrov were among the notable players given assignments at other levels.

Drafted seventh overall by the Jets in 2011, Sheifele was assigned to the Barrie Colts of the OHL.

The 19-year-old centre returns to the team where he played in 2011-12.

Scheifele recorded 23 goals and 63 points with the Colts last season, after being sent down after seven games with the Jets.

He went on to play for team Canada at the World Junior Championships and won a bronze medal.

The 20-year-old Burmistrov was assigned to the Jets' AHL affiliate, the St. John's IceCaps.

The native of Kazan, Russia played 76 games with the Jets last season, scoring 13 goals and 28 points.

Drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers eighth overall in 2010, he recorded six goals and 20 points in 74 games with the Thrashers as a rookie in 2010-11.

The other players assigned by the Jets to the IceCaps include Chris Carrozzi, Ben Chairot, Patrice Cormier, Jason Gregoire, Carl Klingberg, Julian Melchiori, Eric O'Dell, Will O'Neill, Edward Pasquale, Zach Redmond, Cody Sol and Ivan Telegin.
