MANCHESTER, N.H. -- The St. John's IceCaps overcame an early deficit to score four unanswered goals and beat the Manchester Monarchs 5-3 in American Hockey League play Saturday.

Down 2-0 after the first period, the IceCaps' offence exploded in the second with goals from Carl Klingberg, Aaron Gagnon and Patrice Cormier.

A power-play goal by Spencer Machacek at 8:24 in the third gave St. John's (22-27-3) a 4-2 lead.

Brandon Kozun got one back for Manchester at 14:40 but Jason Jaffray scored into an empty net to cap the scoring.

Kozun finished with two goals for the Monarchs (22-23-5), while Tanner Pearson opened the scoring 3:55 into the game.

IceCaps goaltender Chris Carrozzi made 15-of-16 saves in relief of starter Mark Dekanich, who was pulled after giving up two goals on five shots.

Martin Jones meanwhile stopped 33 shots for Manchester.
