San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Giancarlo Stanton's season ended on Sept. 11 when he was hit in the face by a pitch during a scary incident in Milwaukee.

But the Miami Marlins slugger did enough in 145 games to be named the National League's top offensive player.

Stanton and Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout were named the winners of the Hank Aaron Award on Saturday prior to Game 4 of the World Series.

The award is voted on by fans at MLB.com and by a panel of Hall of Famers led and picked by Aaron.

Stanton led the NL with 37 home runs and was second with 105 RBI. He batted .288 with a .395 on-base percentage, 94 walks and 13 stolen bases.

The right fielder suffered multiple facial fractures, dental damage and needed stitches to close several cuts, but avoided surgery after he was struck in the face by Mike Fiers' fastball.

Trout, the 23-year-old former Rookie of the Year and perennial MVP candidate, batted .287 with 36 homers, 111 RBI, 39 doubles, nine triples and 16 stolen bases in 157 games.
