TORONTO - Kelly Jeffrey was hired as the Toronto Argonauts special-teams co-ordinator Tuesday.

Jeffrey joins the CFL club with over 20 years of NCAA and CIS coaching experience. Prior to joining the Argos, Jeffrey spent time as a quarterback coach, offensive and special-teams co-ordinator at Mount Allison (2006-07) before serving as the school's head coach (2008-'15).

"I am very excited to have Kelly Jeffrey join our coaching staff," Argos head coach Scott Milanovich said in a statement. "Kelly is a bright and talented coach that has proven to be successful throughout his coaching career.

"His natural leadership and attention to detail and fundamentals will complement our staff nicely."

Jeffrey replaced Scott Downing, whose contract as Toronto's special-teams co-ordinator was not renewed.

"I'm honoured to be a member of the Toronto Argonauts and have the opportunity to work with Scott Milanovich and his staff," Jeffrey said. "I look forward to helping this club reach our ultimate goal of bringing the Grey Cup back to Toronto."
