The Toronto Argonauts re-signed international running back Brandon Whitaker to a one-year contract extension.

The 5-10, 200-pound, native of Edmond, Oklahoma ranked second in the East Division in rushing with 121 carries for 636 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns while adding 53 receptions for 440 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in 15 games last season.

"Brandon Whitaker is one of the best all-around running backs in our game," head coach Scott Milanovich said. "He is an elusive runner with great hands in the passing game. We are thrilled to have him return to us."

In 66 regular season games over seven CFL seasons, the two-time Grey Cup Champion has compiled 4,009 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 752 carries and registered 247 receptions for 2,099 yards and 16 touchdowns. The former Baylor Golden Bear was an East Division All-Star in 2011 and 2015, and a CFL All-Star in 2011.

Whitaker originally signed with the Argonauts on June 21, 2015 after spending six CFL seasons with the Montreal Alouettes.
