The Toronto Argonauts secondary will have a different look next season. According to TSN's Dave Naylor, the team has signed league All-Star T.J. Heath a year and a half after trading him to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Heath, 30, was named a CFL All-Star after finishing with 64 tackles, five interceptions, and a sack with the Blue Bombers last year. Heath was also a league All-Star in 2016, his rookie season in the CFL, which he split between the Argos and Bombers.

Heath will help replace the hole left by Mitchell White and Rico Murray, two East Division All-Stars from their time with the Argos, who are close to signing with the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Redblacks respectively.

Earlier in the day, the Argos came to terms with two of their own DBs in Jermaine Gabriel and Johnny Sears Jr.

Gabriel, 27, of Toronto, has played in 72 regular-season games with Toronto since being selected in second round, No. 17 overall, in the CFL draft. He appeared in 12 games last year — starting eight — and posted 25 tackles and one forced fumble.

Sears, 30, started seven games for Toronto last season. registering 28 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Sears, an American, has previous CFL experience with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The team also announced they have signed K/P Swayze Waters to a one-year contract.

Waters spent the first four years of his CFL career with the Argonauts before signing in the NFL and returning last year to the league with the Edmonton Eskimos.

In five games for the Eskimos last season, Waters was 11-15 on field goals. He didn't punt for the Eskimos but has a career 46.9 yard average punting in the CFL.

“Swayze is a talented kicker with a proven track record in the CFL,” Argos GM Jim Popp said in a team release. “We’re happy to be able to bring him back to Toronto where he has a strong history.”
