The Guardian's Stuart James reports the Leicester City and England striker's release clause has been triggered by Arsenal. The fee is believed to be in the £20 million ($37.5M Canadian) range.

The 29-year-old Vardy was instrumental to the Foxes' improbable run to the English Premier League title this past season. In 36 league matches, Vardy notched 24 goals, finishing as runner-up for the Golden Boot behind England teammate Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur (25).

Vardy's rise to prominence has been well-documented. After nine years in non-league football, Vardy signed with Conference Premier (fifth division) side Fleetwood Town before joining Leicester the following season. Vardy and the Foxes were promoted from the Championship in 2014 and went on to win the EPL crown a season later.

In 144 appearances for Leicester across all competitions, the native of Sheffield has scored 50 times. His rich run of form resulted in his first England cap in 2015. Since, he's scored four times in nine appearances for Roy Hodgson's side and will head to France for the Euro beginning next week.

Even with Arsenal's interest, Leceister will look to keep hold of Vardy and try to retain all key contributors to the Foxes' title-winning squad.

Earlier on Friday, a report out of Italy said that Chelsea had contacted Leicester over midfielder and France international N'Golo Kante.
