BIRMINGHAM, England - Aston Villa held Sunderland to a 0-0 draw on Sunday despite going down to 10 men for the third time in four Premier League games.

Fabian Delph was sent off four minutes into the second half for a late foul on Jordi Gomez.

But Sunderland failed to make the most of its man-advantage, drawing for the 11th time in 19 games after Gomez hit the post late on.

Villa in 13th place remains a point and a place ahead of Sunderland entering the second half of the season.
