Carpenter, stepson of IndyCar founder wins Indy 500 pole
Ed Carpenter knew he was capable of another fast run, and it earned him the pole for the Indianapolis 500. The Indianapolis native bested IndyCar racing's big-name teams by claiming his first 500 pole Saturday during the "Fast Nine" qualifying session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Pinty's presents the Vortex Brake Pads 200 is scheduled to take the green flag at 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. E.J. Viso posted the fastest lap at Friday's practice for the Indianapolis 500, reaching 229.537 mph before lightning, heavy rain and wind shut things down. Practice was called off about 2 1/2 hours early as water stood on the straightaway and in pit road. Full Story.
