Nelson Piquet Jr. will get another chance to revive his racing career.

The Brazilian who was at the centre of the crashgate affair involving the Renault Formula One team will test drive a Toyota Tundra truck next week for Red Horse Racing of the Camping World Truck Series.

Piquet will test the truck at Rockingham Speedway along with fellow Brazilian and Indy Car driver Vitor Meira.

Last month, Piquet was found guilty of conspiring with Renault team boss Flavio Briatore and technical director Pat Symonds to deliberately cause a crash during last year's Singapore Grand Prix in order to help teammate Fernando Alonso win the race.

While Briatore and Symonds were sanctioned by the FIA, the governing body of motorsport, Piquet was granted immunity for his testimony. However, his reputation was seriously damaged and he's unlikely to get a ride in Formula One in the forseeable future.

Red Horse Racing, which currently fields two entries in the Camping World series, says the test will help both drivers further evaluate their potential future in NASCAR.

Meira says he loves racing Indy Cars and hopes to do it "for as long as I am able." However, the opportunity to test a NASCAR truck "sounded like fun".

"It doesn't mean I'm looking to go NASCAR racing now because my priority is racing with A.J.'s team in the IndyCar Series," said Meira, whose season came to an abrupt end after injuring his back in a crash at the Indianapolis 500 this year.
