The Colorado Avalanche have placed goaltender Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve with a groin injury.

The move comes hours after Avalanche head coach called Varlamov a “game-time decision” for Thursday’s match against the Ottawa Senators.

Varlamov is 0-2-1 this season with a .910% save percentage and a 3.80 goals against average.

He finished the 2013-14 with a 41-14-8 record in 63 games. He also posted a .927% save percentage and 2.41 GAA.

Goaltender Calvin Pickard was recalled from the AHL’s Erie Monsters in Varlamov’s place.
