Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista will have the appeal of this one-game suspension heard by Major League Baseball on Thursday, according to TSN baseball insider Steve Phillips.

Bautista received a one-game ban for his part in the Blue Jays/Rangers brawl on May 15th as well as his post-game comments regarding the incident.

After being struck by a pitch in the eighth inning of the contest, Bautista slid hard into second base to break up a double play and was confronted and punched by Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor, who was hit with an eight game suspension that he is also appealing.

The benches cleared leading to multiple ejections, fines and suspensions for various members of both teams.

The bad blood that precipitated the melee stemmed from Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS between the Jays and Rangers when the 35-year-old flipped his bat in celebration of a go-ahead home run.
