ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bills have activated running back C.J. Spiller from injured reserve.

Spiller returned to the active roster Friday after missing the last eight weeks due to a broken collarbone. He suffered the injury against Minnesota in Week 7.

Buffalo had until 4 p.m. Saturday to activate Spiller.

Spiller's return should be a boost for Buffalo's struggling running game. The Bills rank 24th in the league in rushing with an average of 97.5 yards per game.

The Bills (8-6) opened a roster spot for Spiller on Tuesday when they released fullback Frank Summers. Spiller is officially listed as probable for Sunday's game against Oakland (2-12).

"Obviously everybody knows he's an explosive player, a dynamic player, good in the receiving game and in the running game, so we're excited to have him back," quarterback Kyle Orton said earlier in the week.

Spiller was having a down year before suffering the collarbone injury against the Vikings. In seven games, Spiller has rushed for 287 yards on 69 carries. He returned to practice two weeks ago.

Several other Bills are also listed as probable for Sunday, including safety Da'Norris Searcy (hamstring), safety Duke Williams (concussion) and cornerback Stephon Gilmore (shoulder).

Tight end Chris Gragg (knee) is questionable for Sunday.
