Full credit to the Philadelphia Flyers because the foot soldiers got the job done again - Asham, the young kid Giroux, they were terrific...not Jeff Carter, although Mike Richards figured into things with his physical play. But there was a surprising lack of emotion from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Early in the hockey game, Sidney Crosby got absolutely cranked by Richards. Now, what happened after that? Crosby played a couple of great shifts, he looked like he was going to have one of those bounce-back games where he is so dominant, and make things happen, but they didn't get things going.
In the second period, 1-0 Flyers, Evgeni Malkin kicked the puck in, they don't get the goal, and from that moment forward it was like all the air went out of whatever Pittsburgh had going for them.
Philadelphia played a textbook road game, Dan Carcillo was plus-2 on the night, Arron Asham had a great goal. Carter's not lighting it up the way that he should, and people are saying "well the Flyers can't win unless Carter scores". They played a textbook road game with the foot soldiers doing most of the damage.
