Some thoughts from the NHL on TSN panel on Wednesday night...
While I don't like to sit on the fence I believe that the Montreal Canadiens coaching staff have to sit down and a least consider a change between the pipes, but I think at the end of the day you have to look back at all those victories in which Jaroslav Halak has gotten you and decide: "That's our guy and we will sink or swim with him."
I think that the Habs will also have to make some other decisions as well. In terms of the special teams, they have to get something going on the power play. They also have to improve their penalty killing. Maybe it's time to bring in some size on the blue line in the form of Ryan O'Byrne. Perhaps it's time for the Habs to go with seven defenceman and O'Byrne could contribute in that regard.
Power Outage
While Tomas Plekanec has only one goal in 10 games and Andrei Kostitsyn has not scored in 14 straight, the Canadiens really need more from Scott Gomez.
At the moment Gomez looks completely discombobulated out there and he really needs to get refocused. Gomez is a guy who has won a couple of Stanley Cups and they need a lot more from him and his line. If Gomez can get going then he in turn can get Mike Cammalleri back on track.
Perhaps the Habs bring Benoit Pouliot back in the fold and he should be a little ticked off after being scratched in favour of Sergei Kostitsyn. Pouliot played some really good hockey for the Canadiens earlier in the year and he has not been very good in the playoffs at all.
