Weeks: Not a bad Sunday for Brandt Snedeker

So what was the first thought that went through your mind when you saw Brandt Snedeker make his final putt and wrap up the FedEx Cup?

Was it that he just won an outrageously large sum of money? Sneds picked up $1.4 million for winning the Tour Championship and another $10 million for the overall FedEx Cup. Not a bad Sunday.

Was it that Snedeker has truly become a player capable of winning a major?

Was it 'I wonder what Snedeker's caddie, Scott Vail of Oshawa, Ont., will get out of that $11 million?' Caddies normally get 10 per cent of any win winning cheque although every deal is different. Vail, son of former NHL player Eric Vail, would stand to earn $1.1 million if the traditional arrangement stood. I spoke to one caddie briefly yesterday who said that Snedeker is known as a very generous guy so he wouldn't be surprised if Vail did have a nice payday.

Was it that Davis Love must feel great about adding Snedeker to his team for this week's Ryder Cup?

Was it that Lee Westwood finished DFL?  Wonder if Jose Maria Olazabal is a bit worried?

Canadian Update

While most eyes were on the FedEx Cup, the LPGA held an event in Prattville, Alabama. Alena Sharp posted her best finish (T37) since April and made her first cut in the last five starts.

Adam Hadwin finished T23 at the Web.com Tour event in Midland, Texas. It's a positive performance after two missed cuts. Hadwin sits 45th on the money list, one behind Richard Scott. Brad Fritsch, who missed the cut, is the best Canadian in 27th spot.

Round 1 continues with the Blue Jackets' Marian Gaborik taking on Magnus Paajarvi of the Oilers.
