Sources tell TSN little progress was made in the Ottawa Senators quest to resign forward Chris Neil on Tuesday.
Neil's agent, Todd Reynolds met with Senators general manager Bryan Murray earlier in the day in what might be a final push to keep Neil in Ottawa.
However, unless Murray can move out some money via another trade, it is unlikely the two sides will find financial common ground, which will result in Ottawa trading Neil as well.
Sources say Murray has received considerable interest in Neil who is still several days away from returning from a serious leg laceration.
Included among the teams believed to most interest are the San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings.
