There are a lot of allegations coming out of the Detroit Red Wings dressing room regarding the 'too many men non-call' against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 3. Allegations to the point that there are suggestions Dennis LaRue, who was one of the two veteran referees on the ice, was allegedly yelling at the Penguins players to get off. I don't know that the video evidence supports that; this might just be part of the gamesmanship that goes on. We do know that Detroit has had some issues with the officiating and this might just be a part of the sour grapes aspect.
Attention to Detail
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, a details guy, is frustrated with his play so he spent some extra time Wednesday watching videos, looking at the finer points of what the Penguins weren't doing well as a group. He pulled teammates Bill Guerin and Chris Kunitz together for a 45-minute video session and those three guys painstakingly went through every shift that Crosby played - including the shifts where they weren't on the ice. But that's just preparation and no one who knows Crosby is surprised by that, he pays strict attention to detail.
Emery to the City of Brotherly Love?
It sounds like the 'Ray Emery to the Philadelphia Flyers' rumour is a good scoop. We reported on TSN.ca several weeks ago that there was interest from the Flyers in bringing Emery out of the Kontinental Hockey League and back into the National Hockey League, and it sounds like it's getting relatively close. There's no firm offer and there's no paperwork on the table just yet, largely because there is a signing moratorium that exists with European players, so the NHL can't sign those players until after July 1st. But it sounds like there could be an agreement in place very soon - or at least an understanding - that Ray Emery is in full connection with the Flyers.
