Nominations for NHL team players reps close today and the election process to replace each position can't begin until tomorrow and must conclude by the end of October.
Sources say Andrew Ference, a member of the NHLPA's review committee and executive board member, will be replaced as the Boston Bruins' player rep.
Bruins defencemen Mark Stuart and Dennis Wideman are believed to candidates in line to replace Ference, who was among the most vocal leading up to Paul Kelly's firing.
Meanwhile, the NHLPA is in the process of forming two committees, one to head up the search for candidates to replace Kelly as executive director.
The second committee will be formed to review the PA's current constitution and the issues, or concerns the union may have with it.
In addition, the NHL and the NHLPA have agreed on an 18 per cent escrow rate for the first quarter.
