Top Canadians: SB Paris Jackson is one of the CFL's most dynamic receivers, regardless of nationality but the Lions need him to be healthy. Davis Sanchez is rock solid at the field corner spot. Breakout Canadian: Receiver Shawn Gore was outstanding on special teams after his midseason arrival last year and gets a shot at a full time job on O in 2011.

Other Potential Canadian Starters: OG Jon Hameister-Ries, OC Angus Reid, OG Jesse Newman, WR Akeem Foster, LB James Yurichuk, FS J.R. LaRose

Canadians To Watch: It would be a big boost to the Lions' ratio flexibility if Justin Sorensen ever developed into the tackle B.C. hoped he'd be when they drafted him fifth overall in 2008. The club had also hoped to have the option of using Canadian running backs but long term injuries to Andrew Harris and Jamall Lee, plus the recent suspension of Jerome Messam, derailed that plan. Two-time Most Outstanding Canadian Brent Johnson remains as B.C.'s ace in the hole, as he could move from rotation duty to the starting lineup if the need arises again. Also, keep an eye on another former MOC, veteran slot Kamau Peterson, who has enjoyed past success playing for Wally Buono and Jacques Chapdelaine.

Top Canadian Rookies: Jackson's questionable health status and the departure of outstanding return specialist Yonus Davis combine to create a terrific opportunity for first round pick Marco Iannuzzi to shine. The Leos second rounder, kicker Hugh O'Neill, is expected to apprentice for a year under outstanding veteran Paul McCallum.

In The Pipeline: It seems unlikely that the Lions will ever see the likes of offensive lineman Danny Watkins and free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe, both of whom were former first round picks.
