It's well documented that the 2011 NHL Free Agent class is not a deep pool, which may partially explain why there is so much interest in the restricted free agent class, but here is a look at nearly 150 players that are unrestricted free agents this summer.

With buyouts and restricted free agents that didn't receive qualifying offers added to the list, here are nearly 150 players that will be unrestricted free agents this summer. Be forewarned, many on this list will be players that fill out the bottom half of NHL rosters.

The limited appeal of the unrestricted free agent class could perhaps be part of the reason that there is so much interest in restricted free agents. Steve Stamkos and Drew Doughty are the biggest names to be considered for offer sheets but, depending on each team's salary situation, Zach Bogosian, Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Keith Yandle, Brad Marchand and Teddy Purcell could be targets.

Nashville's situation could add more names to the unrestricted free agent list, but we'll wait to see what an arbitrator rules before altering the status of the players that may be affected: Sergei Kostitsyn, Cal O'Reilly, Nick Spaling and Matt Halischuk.

Players are listed by an approximate value, with a massive caveat.

Value is a rather nebulous thing, that will utlimately be determined by the market, but for these purposes, it involves a combination of potential and reliability, which makes age, role on the team, past performance and health all considerations. In the end, though, each team will apply its own value to a player and it only takes one team to establish what may be a higher market price than expected, to say nothing of the kind of term that will be handed out.

For example, we know Teemu Selanne won't sign a long-term deal if he returns, but he's still ranked near the top of the free agent forwards because so few players on the market are capable of providing what Selanne provides.
