The Detroit Tigers have taken over top spot in the TSN.ca MLB Power Rankings, edging ahead of the Boston Red Sox. Nine wins in the last 10 games and a pitching staff anchored by power arms propels the Tigers to the top.

Among the teams moving up, the Baltimore Orioles, thanks in part to rising star third baseman Manny Machado, move from eight to five. The Cincinnati Reds climb from 11 to eight, even though they're still waiting on right fielder Jay Bruce's second home run of the season.

The Phillies move up from 25 to 19, in part because Roy Halladay isn't going to be on the mound for them due to shoulder woes. Man, the times are changing when that's the state of Doc Halladay.

Colorado is 5-9 since a 14-3 start, with lots of pitching questions, so they slip from six to nine. The Royals slide from seven to 11, though that move is more a function of teams being bunched close together in that range rather than a dramatic drop in the quality of play from Kansas City's nine.

A five-game losing streak knocks the Milwaukee Brewers down from 12 to 17 and the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a similar fate, going from 20 to 25, for their five-game losing streak.

Toronto continues to struggle, ranked at 27 despite back-to-back wins, but they've dug themselves a hole that is going to take time, and wins, if they are going to get out of it.
