The St. Louis Cardinals have risen to the top of the TSN.ca MLB Power Rankings, edging ahead of the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox.

St. Louis' starting pitchers have combined to record a 2.38 ERA, far and away the best in baseball, as Shelby Miller has joined ace Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, Jaime Garcia and (currently injured) Jake Westbrook to comprise a formidable starting five.

Riding a six-game winning streak, the Cincinnati Reds have climbed from eight to four in the rankings, yet they remain behind the Cardinals in both the NL Central and the Power Rankings.

Also from the NL Central, the Pittsburgh Pirates have won six of seven games and jumped from 14th to seventh in the rankings.

Over in the AL Central, the Cleveland Indians have been a surprise team, due in large part to their pitching. A 14-4 run over the last 18 games has moved them from 16th to sixth.

The hottest team at the start of the season, the Atlanta Braves have dropped five of six and slid from sixth to 12th in the rankings.

A couple of injuries in the starting rotation knocked the Baltimore Orioles from fifth to 14th, two wins in the last nine games sent the Colorado Rockies from ninth to 15th and the Milwaukee Brewers, losing 12 of the last 14, continued to fall, from 17th to 23rd.

While the Toronto Blue Jays appear to be moving in the right direction, winning seven of their last 10, they remain parked in 27th for another week. It's still fair to have concerns about a team with a 4.75 staff ERA, so we'll wait and see if there is continued improvement on the mound.
