On Boxing Day, the pursuit of Masahiro Tanaka finally begins. The 25-year-old Japanese star has officially been posted by his club team, the Rakuten Golden Eagles. As Scott Ferguson of TSN Radio 1050 writes, the Texas Rangers or New York Yankees may be his ultimate landing spot. ...more

Ferguson: Interesting names on this year's Jays Caravan

There are nine Blue Jays scheduled to take part in the club's 4th Annual Winter Caravan, running from January 9-18. Skipper John Gibbons and the players will be making stops in six spots around Ontario, including Oshawa, Kingston, Peterborough, St. Catharines, London and Mississauga to drum up interest in the team and the upcoming season. But the point is that the players involved, you would think, will have a role with the 2014 squad - or at least in the beginning. ...more

Ferguson: The story of Kid Nichols, 361-game winner

Greg Maddux will no doubt soon be joining the exclusive club of players enshrined in Cooperstown, New York. Ferguson: Plenty of swings and misses at past Winter Meetings

Baseball's Winter Meetings used to be the highlight of the off season. They still are, to a certain degree, but not nearly what they once were. Alex Anthopoulos has presided over four Winter Meetings and has made just two trades of note over that span. To be fair to Alex, he did most of his heavy lifting last year before the meetings; including that mammoth 12-player deal with the Marlins. ...more

Ferguson: Royals stealing Blue Jays off-season thunder

If you want to look at the cold hard facts, the Kansas City Royals are now the only team in the Majors with a longer post-season drought than the Blue Jays. But, as Scott Ferguson of TSN Radio 1050 writes, the Royals have to be a favourite for one of the two Wild Card slots, making it even more difficult for the Blue Jays to make it into the post-season. ...more

Ferguson: Deadline day for four Blue Jays

Scott Ferguson of TSN Radio 1050 has more. ...more

Ferguson: Looking for the next class of knuckleballers

In baseball, some things refuse to die. This past season, the Blue Jays' R.A. Dickey was the only full-time knuckleball pitcher in the majors. But would he eventually be the last ever to throw the storied pitch in the majors? As TSN Radio 1050's Scott Ferguson writes, maybe not. ...more

Ferguson: The art of making pitchers out of position players

What do Dave Stieb, Tim Wakefield, and Sergio Santos have in common? All three started out as position players, and made the conversion to pitchers.
