ANAHEIM, California - Melky Cabrera's lingering knee problems are sending him back to the disabled list.
Cabrera, who turns 29 on August 11, missed 18 games earlier this season with tendinitis in his left knee. He will undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the extent of the injury.
Right-handed reliver Neil Wagner has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo.
In 88 games this season, Cabrera has a slash line of .279/.322/.360 with three home runs. He's played in 86 games in left field and made his first error of the season in Thursday night's 8-2 loss to the Angels. Cabrera, however, has struggled to get to a number of routine fly balls, which end up falling for hits.
Wagner, 29, has a 3.26 ERA in 20 appearances for the Blue Jays spanning from May 29 to July 19. Coincidentally, Wagner was optioned to Buffalo when Cabrera was activated from his first stint on the disabled list.
