MacArthur: Jays give away final game of productive trip

Ask a Blue Jays fan still hesitant to believe in the team whether a 5-4, nine-game run through Baltimore, Minnesota and Cleveland would be satisfactory early in the season, and the answer likely would be in the affirmative. Yet it's those defeats, snatched from the jaws of victory, which sting the most and Toronto had two of them on the trip. TSN Blue Jays reporter Scott MacArthur has more from Cleveland. ...more

MacArthur: Reyes returns; Francisco arrives for Jays

What a difference a year makes. Twelve months ago Jose Reyes spent part of April on the disabled list with a severely sprained left ankle but there was no clear return date in sight. On Saturday, Reyes was back from a strained left hamstring. TSN Blue Jays reporter Scott MacArthur has more from Cleveland. ...more

MacArthur: Night after meltdown, Jays' bullpen bounces back

Relievers will tell you one of the things they appreciate about their roles is the near-immediate opportunity to make amends for a poor performance. Starters, when they struggle, have to live with it for five days. For Sergio Santos and Steve Delabar, two of the three men who authored one of the ugliest pitched innings in Blue Jays' franchise history on Thursday night, the bounce-back chance came right away. ...more

MacArthur: Blue Jays' bullpen authors historic collapse

Three Blue Jays relievers combined to set a dubious franchise record in one of the ugliest and strangest late-game meltdowns you'll see on a baseball field. Steve Delabar, Sergio Santos and J.A. Happ walked eight Twins in a six-run bottom of the eighth which saw Minnesota turn a 5-3 deficit into a 9-5 lead, the score by which the home side would win to sweep Thursday's doubleheader. ...more

MacArthur: Dickey's struggles continue

A second-straight Thursday start unfolded in close to the same fashion for struggling knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Four scoreless innings, a 0-0 tie, only to have things come undone in the fifth. TSN Radio 1050's Scott MacArthur has more. ...more

MacArthur: Dickey thinks knuckler is ready for the cold

When R.A. Dickey takes the mound on Thursday afternoon at Target Field, the forecast temperature of one Celsius will test a man who throws a unique pitch, the knuckleball, which is better suited to climate-controlled, humid conditions. Dickey insists he'll be ready. "It would be the same challenge that I would have if I was pitching conventionally and just trying to get my body warm and going," said Dickey. TSN 1050's Scott MacArthur has more. ...more

MacArthur: Lind hurts back in Jays' win over Twins

The Blue Jays won their second game in a row, thumping the Twins 9-3 on Tuesday night but, like Sunday's victory over the Orioles, the win came with a cost. Adam Lind, who has a history of lower back problems although none recently, was lifted for pinch hitter Josh Thole in the seventh inning after his back tightened on him. ...more

MacArthur: Jays pitcher Happ unhappy in bullpen

J.A. Happ returned to the Blue Jays in time for the club's three-game series against the Twins. He'll be a long reliever for the foreseeable future, something with which he's not thrilled. TSN Radio 1050's Scott MacArthur has more. ...more

MacArthur: Freak injury sidelines Izturis, Kawasaki returns

The Blue Jays won the game, 11-3, and the series, two out of three, at Camden Yards but it came at a price. Maicer Izturis, who'd begun to morph into the Blue Jays starting second baseman thanks to a hot start offensively, sprained his left knee in a freak accident in the first inning. As Scott MacArthur of TSN Radio 1050 writes, it happened as he was descending the dugout steps to the bat rack. ...more

MacArthur: Bautista addresses Jays' offensive struggles

The Blue Jays entered play Sunday with a team batting average of .209, on-base percentage of .283 and on-base plus slugging percentage of .643. As Scott MacArthur of TSN radio 1050 writes, make what you will of a small sample size, but slugger Jose Bautista acknowledges that change must come soon. ...more
