The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed centre William Karlsson to a two-year contract extension.

Karlsson, 23, scored nine goals and added 11 assists in 81 games last season.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the deal is worth $1 million per season.

Karlsson was selected in the second round, 53rd overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

William Karlsson made great strides in his first NHL season and we believe that he is just beginning to come into his own as a player,” Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen. said in a release  “He is an important part of our young, core group of players and we are pleased that he will continue to grow, develop and contribute to our team as we move forward.”
