The Toronto Blue Jays claimed outfielder Nolan Reimold off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday as an extra bat to replace injured infielder Edwin Encarnacion.

The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Tuesday after the club reinstated him from the 60-day disabled list.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays designated Brad Glenn for assignment on Sunday.

Reimold has been battling back from injuries neck and hamstring injuries and had back surgery last year. He has not played yet this season.

Encarnacion, who injured his quad muscle while running through first base on Saturday, had an MRI prior to Sunday's game and will have the results soon. If he is placed on the 15-day disabled list he will eligible to return to the team after the All-Star Break.

The Blue Jays will also have Jose Bautista at first base for their series finale against the Oakland Athletics.
