According to Baseball America, the Blue Jays have released right-hander Gavin Floyd.

Floyd was brought back earlier this year on a minor league deal. He had been battling shoulder issues, which forced him to miss the final three months of the season last year. He did not appear in any Spring Training games. Before his injury, Floyd was a key part of the Blue Jays’ bullpen, posting an ERA of 4.06 and averaging nearly a strikeout per inning in his 31 innings of work.

He has dealt with a number of arm injuries of late, including missing most of 2013 due to ligament damage that required Tommy John surgery. Upon his return in 2014, he fractured his elbow.

Floyd signed a one-year, $1 million deal last winter, where he competed for the final rotation spot. When it was awarded to Aaron Sanchez, Floyd was relegated to the bullpen.

The 34-year-old has a career ERA of 4.37 in 13 big-league seasons, seven of which were spent with the Chicago White Sox.
