St. Louis Blues defenceman Colton Parayko will join Team Canada at the 2017 world hockey championship in Cologne, Germany, and Paris, France.

Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong officially annouced the news on Tuesday.

Team Canada is 3-0 in Group B to start the tournament, and take on Team France on Thursday. 

The 23-year-old Parayko finished last season with four goals and 31 assists in 81 games for the Blues in the regular season while adding another two goals and three assists in 11 postseason games.

The Blues lost in six games to the Nashville Predators in the second round of the playoffs.

The World Championship will mark the second time Parayko will play in internation competition this season. The St. Albert, Alberta native played in three games with Team North America in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. He recorded three assists in those games.
