Despite Russian head coach Oleg Znarok's claims otherwise, St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said Tuesday Vladimir Tarasenko will not need offseason surgery.

Znarok said Monday the Blues star, through his agent, told Team Russia he would not play at the world hockey championship due to an injury that required surgery.

Armstrong said Tarasenko, along with many other players, was dealing with bumps and bruises but does not need surgery. He said every Blues player should be fully healed within six weeks.

The 25-year-old scored three goals and added three assists in 11 playoff games. He scored 39 goals and tallied 75 points in 82 games during the regular season.

Armstrong confirmed Tuesday at his season-ending news conference that Alex Steen played through a broken bone in his foot. He also added Robbi Fabbri, who tore his ACL in February, remains on schedule to return in time for training camp.
