SOUTHAMPTON, England — A stunning solo goal from substitute Sofiane Boufal lit up St Mary's as Southampton beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The Morocco international ran fully 70 yards from inside his own half and left three defenders on their backsides — two of whom collided with each other — before curling the ball around Ahmed Hegazi and inside the far post to secure the three points in style.

Boufal had been on the pitch only four minutes.

It was going to take a moment of supreme quality, or abject stupidity, to settle this otherwise drab affair and thankfully it was the former as Southampton's record signing secured his side's second home win of the season with five minutes remaining.

Southampton leapfrogged above West Brom and into 10th.
