MONTREAL -- The postponed bout between Adonis Stevenson of Longueuil, Que., and American Don George has found a new home.
The brawlers will meet in an International Boxing Federation super-middleweight elimination bout Aug. 17 at the Buffalo Run casino in Oklahoma.
The fight was originally scheduled for Aug. 11 in Montreal as the co-feature to a light heavyweight title clash between Jean Pascal and Tavoris Cloud, which was called off due to Pascal's hand injury.
It will now be the main event on a card to be televised in the United States as the season finale for boxing on ESPN2.
It will be on pay-per-view in Canada.
The winner between Stevenson (18-1, 15 knockouts) and George (22-2-1, 19 KOs) gets the IBF's No. 1 ranking and becomes mandatory challenger to champion Carl Froch.
"I know George will be ready for a war and this is what we'll have," Stevenson said in a statement.
It will be the power-punching Stevenson's third fight under Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward. The first two saw him score a first round knockout of Jesus Gonzales in February and a second-round TKO win over Noe Gonzalez in April.
George, who is coming off a 10-loss by unanimous decision to Edwin Rodriguez in March, also likes to hit.
"Stylistically, I like the fight," the Chicago-based boxer said. "He's not going to run. He's a puncher too."
