Jake McCabe scored in overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

Nicholas Baptiste and Derek Grant also scored for the Sabres, while former Ottawa goalie Robin Lehner had 37 saves.

Newly-acquired Derick Brassard scored for the Senators in his first appearance since being traded from the New York Rangers for Mika Zibanejad in July.

“It took me a couple of shifts, but I thought our line, especially on the power play, we moved the puck really well," Brassard told the Ottawa Citizen. "We had some good lucks and some good scoring chances. For my first game, personally, I felt okay. I’m just trying to adjust to a new system, linemates and teammates. Tonight was a good step,” said Brassard.

With Craig Anderson unable to make the trip to Buffalo for personal reasons, Andrew Hammond was forced into action for a second straight night. He played on Monday during the Senators' win over the Maple Leafs in Halifax.

“I felt pretty good tonight,” Hammond told the Citizen. “You’re starting to get in a groove now that training camp is getting underway and you’re getting a lot of shots each day. Overall, I felt pretty good.

“(Playing) didn’t change too much. I wasn’t expecting to make the trip. I’ve felt good all through camp. I think the biggest difference is I’ve got a little bit different mental approach and so far I’m having success with that.”
