Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Brewers claimed third baseman Matt Dominguez off waivers from the Houston Astros on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The slick-fielding 25-year-old has not played in the majors in 2015. In 45 games for Houston's triple-A affiliate in Fresno, he was batting .251 with a .289 on-base percentage.

In four major-league seasons with the Marlins and Astros, Dominguez is a .233 hitter with a .275 on-base percentage and 42 home runs in 357 games.

To make room for Dominguez on the 40-man roster, Milwaukee designated lefty Wei-Chung Wang for assignment.

The Brewers took the 23-year-old from the Pirates in the Rule 5 draft in 2013. He allowed 21 earned runs in 17 1/3 innings in the majors in 2014, and he owns a 5.93 ERA in 60 2/3 innings for Class-A Brevard County in 2015.
