The Boston Bruins have acquired defenceman John-Michael Liles from the Carolina Hurricanes and forward Lee Stempniak from the New Jersey Devils as the NHL trade deadline passed Monday.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Hurricanes will receive a a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick and prospect Anthony Camara from the Bruins.

The 35-year-old Liles has six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 54 games this season - the final year of a four-year, $15.5 million extension he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2012. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Drafted 159th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2000, Liles has scored 87 goals and 272 assists for 359 points in 783 regular-season games with the Avs, Leafs and Hurricanes.

The Indianapolis, Indiana native has also has appeared in 40 playoff games with the Avs (36) and Leafs (4), scoring four goals and 11 points.

Stempniak has scored 16 goals and 41 points in 63 games this season. The 33-year-old has amassed 181 goals and 229 assists for 410 points in 771 regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, then Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets and Devils.

The move to the Bruins is Stempniak's sixth team in the last three seasons.
