PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Colton Hargrove's second-period goal stood up as the winner while Zane McIntyre made 20 saves as the Providence Bruins beat the visiting St. John's IceCaps 2-1 on Sunday in American Hockey League action.

Colby Cave opened the scoring for Boston's AHL affiliate in the first period and Hargrove made it a 2-0 game 6:49 into the second.

Ryan Johnston got one back for the IceCaps (0-3-0), Montreal's AHL club. Zachary Fucale turned away 31-of-33 shots in defeat.

Providence (1-2-0) went 0 for 3 on the power play while St. John's scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

IceCaps forward Michael McCarron and Bruins forward Justin Hickman dropped the gloves at the game's buzzer, leading to game misconducts for both players for fighting after the period ended. McCarron was also handed a match penalty for headbutting on the same stoppage.
