Team USA Olympic captain Brian Gionta has signed a contract with the Boston Bruins for the remainder of the NHL season, the team announced Sunday.

Gionta signed a one-year, $700,000 deal, and will make approximately $158,000 for the remainder of the season.

Having signed before the deadline Monday, Gionta will be eligible to play in the playoffs for the Bruins.

Gionta last played in the NHL last season, finishing with 15 goals and 20 assists in 82 games for the Buffalo Sabres. He's played one game in the AHL this season with the Rochester Americans, netting a goal.

In 1,006 career games in the NHL, the 1998 third round pick has 289 goals and 299 assists.
