Florida State Seminoles guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes announced Thursday that he is declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft. The native of Scarborough, Ont. revealed his decision in a statement tweeted from his personal Twitter account.

"I feel that now is the time for me to continue setting goals for myself at the next level. I'm excited to take this next step to purse a career in the NBA," said Rathan-Mayes.

Rathan-Mayes, a junior, leaves Florida State with one year of collegiate eligibility remaining. The statement does not mention whether he's hired an agent, which per NBA rules would allow him to play once more in the collegiate ranks should he continue on without one during the early stages of the draft process.

This past season, Rathan-Mayes averaged 10.6 points and 4.8 assists for the Seminoles, who were defeated by the Xavier Musketeers in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
